Science Write-up
Question: What temperature (in Celsius) does wax melt at?
Hypothesis: Wax will melt at 60 C.
Procedure: Turn on the hotplate. Observe the wax melt. Record Temperature Every ... Seconds.
Observations:
The first 6 minutes the temperature increased from 27c to 31c nothing happened.
From 7 to 9 Minutes the temperature increased from 35c to 48c and the wax had melted enough that there was more liquid wax than solid.
From 9 to 18 the temperature increased from 51c to 70c and the wax became mostly liquid, at the 18 minute point there was no more solid wax.
Conclusion: Wax does melt at 60c, but it can melt at lower or higher temperatures, it just take much slower or faster.
